Carol Tyner is a native of Western North Carolina with deep, generational ties to Yancey and Mitchell counties. Her commitment to Mountain Strong's mission is both personal and professional, grounded in a lifelong connection to the region and a belief in the power of community-led recovery. As Executive Director of Mountain Strong, Carol leads the organization's strategic vision, fundraising, community partnerships, and the development of programs that expand access to healthcare and strengthen long-term recovery across the region.

Carol spent 13 years in healthcare management, including six years providing direct bedside patient care and clinical management, followed by seven years as the Practice Director for a private surgical practice. In that role, she oversaw all aspects of clinical and surgical facility operations, including human resources, regulatory compliance, policy development, financial management, marketing, and patient experience.

Throughout her healthcare career, Carol successfully led her facility through more than a decade of accreditation surveys while maintaining a perfect patient safety record. Her background in patient care, operational leadership, quality improvement, and healthcare administration continues to inform her work at Mountain Strong, where she is focused on building sustainable, community-driven solutions that improve health outcomes for the people of Western North Carolina.
